Zhejiang
Province, located on the southeast coast of China just below Shanghai, is
one of the most developed provinces in China. Consisting of over 300 professional
artists of various fields, the Zhejiang Song & Dance Theatre is the
largest state-run performing art group in the province. Its Symphony Orchestra,
Folk Orchestra, Dance Troupe, Vocalists and Chorus make a great impact on
the cultural community.
This impact has been greatly strengthened over the past forty years by the
tremendous contributions of artists of generations in the Zhejiang Symphony
Orchestra. Chinese, French, German, Korean and Swiss audiences have been
greatly impressed after viewing their performances. The orchestra is now
a leading orchestra among all provincial ones in China for its outstanding
popularity.
Zhejiang province is well known as 'the home of rice and fish, the land
of silk and tea, the state of cultural relics and the resorts of tourism'.
Rooted in an abundant land, Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra. performances display
the unique culture of the area. The culture is reserved and exquisite, not
unlike the long history and beautiful scenery of Zhejiang.
As communication is more developed between China and the international community,
music plays a great role for peoples' understanding with each other. It
is a bridge that spans the gap of different people,which sometimes language
cannot. The Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra is striving to strengthen this bridge
so that it may serve as a pathway for all those wishing to experience what
has not yet been seen.
